As another year draws to a close, ‘The Mountain’ is humming with energy - festive markets, new art galleries and gatherings that capture the true rhythm of our mountain home. Haenertsburg glows brighter than ever as the entire village lights up for its Christmas festivities, while The Iron Crown gets ready to welcome the new year with an awesome rock ’n roll event. From December through February, there is a blush of blueberries to be picked, and later, in March, the Ebenezer Mile, WIK Triathlon and the Magoebas Ultra Trail inspire athletes to push their limits. Each event is a reminder of why we love this place, its people, its pulse and its wild, generous heart.

CHRISTMAS MARKETS
Christmas in Haenertsburg carries a magic all its own - warm, nostalgic, and brimming with village charm. This year, the entire town will be lit up, transforming Haenertsburg into a glowing festive wonderland and a Christmas marketplace from 13 to 15 December 2025.
Central to the festivities is The Pennefather Christmas Market, at the end of the high street, with stalls set up between the mining-town style cottages offering handmade crafts, festive treats, clothing, jewellery and gifts that reflect the creativity of the region. The Pennefather Complex with the cosy bookshop, Tiptol Boutique and The Tin Roof - all add their own charm while the Village Hall houses a busy indoor market with unique treats. One of the highlights is the lighting of the giant Christmas tree, casting a warm, festive glow and filling the evening with a sense of shared wonder.
