CHEERIO ROAD FOREVER...

Like the Strawberry Fields of the iconic Beatles song, Cheerio Road is an enchanted place, a song in your heart…. Hidden in the heart of the misty mountains of Magoebaskloof, lies Cheerio Road. The minute your tyres hit the dirt road, you feel the freedom of country roads and the promise of an adventure. Cheerio Road is like a tomboy with diverse treasures … a rock, a whistle and a brightly coloured flower in her pocket. Playful, curious and quirky, the area is full of unexpected, small surprises and is absolutely enthralling. In a place of spectacular natural beauty… free of noise and traffic, the people of Cheerio Road live side by side, connected to the earth and to each other.

The wrought iron gates announce the famed Cheerio Gardens where Sheilah (Box) Thompson planted acres of azaleas and ornamental cherry trees. The attention she lavished on her garden has resulted in a living tapestry of colour in spring when the blossoms are in full bloom. Even in autumn, it is a delight to stroll along the pathways meandering through the gardens to the beautiful wedding venue or to the coffee shop, Cheerio Café. Africamps recently installed ten of their boutique glamping tents fitted with a fully-equipped kitchen, extra-length queen-size beds and a private, outdoor wood-fired hot-tub on a deck with views over the gardens or the scenic farm dams. So head to the mountains of Magoebaskloof, breathe in the fresh mountain air and soak up the mesmerising landscapes of Cheerio Road.
